Design Audit

1. No Clear Workflow or Progression

The experience is structured like a long form instead of a guided flow, making it unclear where to start or what comes next. All sections carry equal visual weight, reducing hierarchy and increasing cognitive load.

2. Misaligned with User Mental Models

Users are asked to make decisions (e.g., naming, recipients) before defining intent or content, forcing decisions without context. Core features like sequence steps also lack clarity in how the flow actually works.

3. Weak Feedback & Contextual Guidance

There is little system feedback or progress visibility, and the AI assistant is static rather than context-aware. This limits guidance and reduces user confidence during creation.

User Flow

The original flow introduced decisions too early, creating confusion and a fragmented experience. Users lacked clear guidance, and there was no final review before launch.

The redesigned journey follows a structured flow: Setup → Intent → Content → Settings → Review, helping users define goals first, create more efficiently with optional AI, and confidently launch with full control and validation.

Final Thoughts

The primary challenge in the original experience was a lack of structure and alignment with how users naturally approach sequence creation. By presenting the interface as a continuous form and introducing key decisions too early, the product forced users to operate without sufficient context. This created unnecessary cognitive load and resulted in a fragmented workflow where users had to constantly interpret what to do next.

Additionally, while AI was introduced as a feature, its placement as a static sidebar made it feel disconnected from the core task. Rather than enhancing the experience, it created hesitation, as users were unsure if using it would be faster or more helpful than completing the form themselves. This reduced adoption and limited its perceived value.

The redesigned solution addresses these issues by restructuring the experience into a clear, step-by-step progression that mirrors the user’s mental model. By prioritizing intent first, followed by content creation and then execution, users are guided through the process with greater clarity and context. AI is repositioned as a contextual support tool, integrated directly within key interaction points, making it more accessible, relevant, and efficient to use.

In addition, improvements to hierarchy, feedback, and flow provide stronger guidance throughout the experience, while a dedicated review stage allows users to validate their inputs before launching. Overall, this approach reduces friction, increases confidence, and creates a more intuitive and scalable experience. By aligning the product with user intent and integrating AI in a way that supports, rather than interrupts, the workflow, the solution enables faster and more effective sequence creation.
